Icarus Racing

2011 & 2012 Sailing program in conjunction with the US Merchant Marine Academy Sailing Foundation

    1.    Icarus Racing is an exciting two man sailing team about to embark on the winter 2011/2012 racing season.  Team Icarus’ main goal is to be a contestant in 2012 Atlantic cup, a new platform which provides young sailors the ability to introduce corporate partners into the exciting world of professional sailing.

    2.      The United States Merchant Marine Academy has given Team Icarus permission to use the foundation’s Rodger Martin designed Class 40 racing sailboat to help highlight young sailors racing in the United States and promote two-man off-shore sailing.

    3.     Team Icarus’ partnerships with corporations in conjunction with working alongside sailing enthusiasts will allow the team an opportunity to become a peak competitor for the Atlantic Cup in 2012, and the racing season this winter.

    1.     Ben Poucher and Tim Fetsch are young, energetic, and enigmatic sailors who have been professionally organizing, racing, and participating in sailing programs for the past decade.  In addition to participating in the 2011 Atlantic Cup, the two have competed in multiple world championships and nearly every East coast off-shore and in-shore elite regatta since 2002.  They have worked alongside Olympic medalists, world champions, and some off the most highly respected sailboat racing professionals in the world.
